Accordeonist Gerie Daanen studied at the Tilburg Academy of Music with Arie Willemsen and at the Copenhagen Royal Academy of Music with Mogens Ellegaard. In 1981 he obtained the Prix d’Excellence, the highest qualification for musical studies in the Netherlands.
"I've been performing, among others, as a guest soloist in various national symphony orchestra's and big bands and have been giving workshops together with the American jazz accordeonist Mat Matthews.
For a period of ten years I played chamber music in a regular music group and toured the country as the regular accompanist of the Argentine singer Ana Maria Conrado.
Besides my musical association with ®chestra, my work as a teacher at the Municipal Centre for Cultural Education 'De Lindenberg' in Nijmegen and my visiting lectureship at the Messiaen Academy, I'm active as a freelance composer and arranger."
