The Guest Foundation takes pity on asylum seekers who have exhausted all legal procedures and are to leave the country, but aren't able to do so. More than fifty volunteers of the Guest Foundation offer their help in crisis situations and supply for, among others, shelter, clothing, food and medical care. The acquired necessary resources partly originate from donations, collections and jumble sales.
Johnny Rahaket: "Travelling early 2003 quite a lot by train, at railroad stations I, to my dismay, ran across an increasing
number of wandering asylum seekers who had exhausted all legal procedures and who were thrown out on the streets as a consequence of the government's policy.
Among these people whole families with infants could be found as well as people who got touched too many a times and slowly were losing their sanity."
In response to these experiences ®chestra joined hands with Circus Colourful City and the Guest Foundation to draw attention to the problematic situation of this group of refugees.
In order to support the relief of these refugees the cd Vluchten kan niet meer? was released of which the entire proceeds benefit the activities of the Guest Foundation.
On December18, 2003 the presentation of the album by ®chestra and the Colourful City Choir took place at the Stadsschouwburg Nijmegen. This benefit concert was visited by about a thousand people; among them volunteers and clients of the Guest Foundation were present.
Earlier that month ®chestra together with Mile Lukić and part of the choir performed the lyric Yela at the television programme Barend & Van Dorp. More information about Mile Lukić can be found on his website http://www.milelukic.com/.
