Atap: a roof of palm leafs. The coconut palm as a metaphor for a range of places on earth. ®chestra tries to roof music which originates from detachment. When we do, if played with the right tone, with the right intonation and with the right emotion, something peculiar happens: we turn from host into guest!
®chestra performed together with Mile Lukić in his birthplace Serajevo. Mile has strongly influenced and inspired the group. ATAP contains four songs written by his pen.
Also the Turkish, of Azerbaijani origine, saz player Erdal Erzinçan - a virtuoso with whom ®chestra performed several times - is represented on this cd with two tracks.
Recently it came to a fruitful cooperation between the Dutch Youth String Orchestra directed by Johannes Leertouwer and ®chestra. Two of the tracks on ATAP are a result of this cooperation.
